The Philadelphia Phillies (37-31) will play the Tampa Bay Rays (37-35) at Tropicana Field.

Joe Blanton (4-3, 5.28 ERA) will face Matt Garza (4-5, 3.83 ERA).

The Phillies hope to win the series tonight with Joe Blanton on the mound. In his last start, Blanton allowed four earned runs in 5.1 innings against the Toronto Blue Jays. In Game 4 of the World Series, not only did Blanton hit a home run, he pitched superb allowing two earned runs on four hits and two walks. He struck out seven in six innings.

Blanton allowed a home run to Carl Crawford, who will be in the Rays lineup. Carlos Pena has Blanton's number in the regular season. When Blanton was in Oakland, Pena batted .571 off him.

In his last outing against the Colardo Rockies, Matt Garza gave up four runs in five innings. He allowed three home runs and struck out five. He received the no decision in Game 3 of the World Series after giving up four runs in six innings. Carlos Ruiz, Chase Utley, and Ryan Howard each homered off him.

The Phillies are still without Brad Lidge, but not for much longer. Ruben Amaro Jr. said that Brad Lidge will ”definitely” be activated from the 15-day disabled list tomorrow.
