The Phillies 10 game winning streak ended yesterday. It was their longest streak since 1991, a year they won 78 games.

During the streak, the Phillies batted .255 and scored an average of 5.7 runs per game. Their earned run average was 2.46 in that span. The starters had a 2.61 ERA, and the bullpen had a 2.05 ERA. Seven times the Phillies starters lasted 6 or more innings; five times they made it through seven.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the 10-game winning streak is the longest by a defending World Series champion since the 1971 Orioles won 11 consecutive games.

The Phillies became the first team in 17 years to win their last five games before the All-Star break and their first first five games after the break. The only other team to do that since 1980 was the 1992 Braves.

Since 1986 only four Phillies have had walk-off homers in the 13th inning or later: John Kruk (14th inning, 1993), Todd Pratt (13th inning, 2003), Ryan Howard (14th inning, 2007), and Jayson Werth (13th inning, 2009).

Since July 2, the Phillies lead the National League in runs (95), home runs (24), walks (74), on-base percentage (.373), slugging percentage (.489), ERA (2.15) and opponents batting average (.198).

The bullpen has allowed only three of 18 inherited runners to score since July 2.

Everything has clicked for the Phillies in the month of July. They are now 14-4 this month.
