Brett Myers could find himself in the Phillies bullpen sooner rather than later. Myers, who is recovering from hip surgery, got the save in a rehab appearance last night.
In two rehab appearances in Double-A Reading, Myers went 0-1, allowing one run in four innings. He struck out seven. Last night, he added two strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
"It's good to be able to get out there, obviously," Myers said. "I haven't felt anything in the hip for about a month."
Myers topped 92 mph on the radar gun. He will pitch again today to see if he can go back-to-back days, the final step before returning.
UPDATE: Myers pitched a 1-2-3 inning on Wednesday night in Lehigh Valley. He threw 8 pitches: 6 strikes.
