Pat The Bat Moving On

ATTENTION PHILLIES PHANS: WARNING! The image you are about to see may be disturbing to some.

This picture makes me tear up. It's just not right. Pat Burrell started his career without the Phillies.

Burrell's new teammates are the players he helped beat to win the 2008 World Series.
"The thing I keep thinking about is, when you've been in a place like I was for
a long time, you have a hard time turning the page and accepting some of the new
things. It's going to be an adjustment period for me, but these guys have made
it very easy for me as far as making me feel welcome and stuff like that."

Burrell will no longer man left field. He'll act as the Rays designated hitter. However, Burrell will not change his preparation. He has even spoke to his friend and former teammate, Jim Thome, on DHing.
"For me, playing every day [in the past], I'm going to have to find a way to
stay active," Burrell said. "I don't think I'm going to be somebody who can just
sit in the dugout and wait for his time to come up."
"It is a change,"
Burrell said on being the DH. "I'd like to sit here and say I've got it all
figured out and I know what I'm going to be doing, but it's kind of a work in
progress."

It finally hit me. Burrell is no longer a Phillie. Despite some of the rough times he had, he will be missed.
