Magic Number: 1

Check out this pre-game video from 1993, the day the Phillies clinched. The Phillies will try to clinch tonight.

Three Decades of September 28

September 28 has been an eventful date in Phillies history. On this day, the Philadelphia Phillies clinched the division in both 1983 and 1993. Also on this day, the Phillies closed Veterans Stadium.

In 1983, the Phillies beat the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field to clinch. Greg Gross made the last out in left field.

In 1993, the Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates to clinch. Mariano Duncan hit the game-winning grand slam. John Kruk flipped to Don Pall to secure the 10-7 victory.

In 2003, the Phillies closed Veterans Stadium.

Commercial Cancled

Notice how this commercial isn't played anymore? Instead we get the guy that's CA-RAAAAZZZZY!!!

If this commercial was translated to today, it would be:

"Hi, I'm Brad Lidge. My job on the field is to give up as many runs as possible."

Phillies Fans on the Today Show

Yesterday, a video was posted from a moment at a Phillies game. Today, the family appeared on the Today Show.

The three year old is quite the Phillies fan. Her favorite player: Raul Ibanez.

In Phillies news, Greg Dobbs and Clay Condrey were activated. However, Chan Ho Park suffered a hamstring pull in yesterday's 6-0 win over the Nationals. Chase Utley stole home on a double steal and Jayson Werth hit a home run. The Phillies will try to complete the sweep tonight.

Call of the Day: HK called Utley "the man" more than once.

"Chase Utley again! Chase Utley again! Ending the ballgame on a great
catch! Chase Utley you are the man! Wow!"

Nice Catch-- WHOOPS!

During yesterday's 5-0 Phillies win, a fan made a terrific catch on a Jayson Werth foul ball. The man gave it to his three year old daughter, Emily. The rest is history.

According to Fan Graphs, the odds of catching a foul ball are 1 in 1189. The video already made it's ways around the Today Show and ESPN. Priceless.

Call of the Day: Brett Myers pitches a complete game shutout in 2008.

"2 balls and 2 strikes with 2 outs. Fastball, struck 'em out! Complete game
shutout, Brett Myers. His 9th strikeout of the night. Brett's 7th complete game
of his career. And he shuts 'em out. He is our Chevorlet player of the game."

Catch With Cole

Check out this video of Cole Hamels having a catch with.. a Cubs fan? Pretty cool of Cole.

Call of the day: In 2006, Ryan Howard's 49th home run of the season broke Mike Schmidt's single season home run record.

"Swing and a towering drive, to deep right center field.. it
is... Number 49 for Ryan Howard! He is the Phillies all time single
season home run leader with 49 home runs!"

"Ryan Howard has just broken the Phillies all time single season
record which he shared with Mike Schmidt and that was a no doubt about
it!"

Everybody Dance Now

All the kids are doing it. Chris Wheeler will be forever famous for his dance, "The Wheeler" or recently nicknamed, "The Wheelio."

Thanks to The Fightins' for posting the clip, and Long Drive for alerting every one of the hilarious video of all the broadcasters doing the dance. It is a must-see. Classic. Be sure to check out those links.

Click here to see the original "Wheeler," as well as another classic Wheels moment attached to an article where I was able to ask Wheels a few questions when he visited his old roots.

The bantering between the two National League East divisonal rivals may never stop. Brett Myers was recently interviewed by Comcast Sportsnet’s Leslie Guidel. He expressed his feelings on some of the Mets recent comments.
