Olympic Update

The United States has a total of 29 medals so far. 10 gold, 8 silver, 11 bronze. China has 2 less total medals, but has 17 gold medals.

Michael Phelps has been a huge part of USA's medal count. You can put Michael Phelps' name in the record books.

Last night, Phelps won the 200m Men's Butterfly in world record fashion. He set a record pace of 1:52.03. Phelps won his fourth gold medal this year, and 10th gold Olympic medal overall.

Another hour, another medal. After an hour, he swam again and won his 11th overall medal with the help of his USA team. Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens, and Peter Vanderkaay led USA to a win in the Men's 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay.

Phelps has more all time gold medals than anybody else in the history of the Oylmpics. Plus, he has a chance for more.

Last night China beat out USA for the gold in Women's gymnastics. USA won the silver. USA's most experienced gymnast fell on the balance beam.

USA baseball played their first game today in the Beijing Olympics. South Korea rallied to beat USA 8-7. Jongwalk Lee's walk off sac fly won the game for Korea.

Phillies prospect Lou Marson played, but did not get any at bats. Other Phillies farmhand Jason Donald did not play.

It was softball that took the show for USA on the diamond. Cat Ostermon pitched a no hitter as USA beat Australia 3-0. She struck out 13 batters in 7 innings. Softball only has 7 innings compared to baseball's nine.

Natasha Watley hit a RBI single to give USA the lead in the 5th inning. Crystl Bustos hit a homerun.

USA Men's Basketball won their second game. They beat Angola 97-76. Dwayne Wade led the way with 19 points.

USA's Women's Basketball crushed Mali 97-41. Lisa Leslie led the way wit 16 points.

That is your Olympic Update for the day. Hopefully USA can land some more gold, and the Phillies can beat the Dodgers tonight after dropping 2 to them on the West Coast.
