Lannan Continues To Bring Phillies Pain

No, not at the plate. The Phillies scored 6 runs, 3 earned, off John Lannan.

But Cole Hamels sprained his left ankle during Tuesday's game while fielding a bunt by Lannan. No word on how long he will be out.

There seems to be a pattern when Lannan is on the hill. He broke Chase Utley's hand in 2007 while pitching. This time, he bunts, Hamels fields, and twists his ankle as he put all of his weight on it.

Of course he didn't do it on purpose, but it seems to be a re-occuring nightmare for the Phillies when Lannan is on the mound.

Hamels was clearly upset. He tried to take a warm-up pitch, but tossed the ball to Charlie Manuel and walked off the field.

I was at the game and cringed when Cole went down. Hopefully he'll be back to normal by his next start... we'll see.
