Not Too Good Phillies Tidbits

The Phillies finished their homestand 2-4, and are now 6-8, with all 6 wins come from behind victories.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau and Todd Zolecki, the Phillies have set a Major League record for allowing at least one home run in each of the 14 games they played, beating out the 2001 Brewers who allowed home runs in their first 13.

The Phillies have allowed 31 home runs as a team, beating the Baltimore Orioles, Texas Rangers, and Colorado Rockies. How many home runs have the Phillies hit as a team? Just 18, but that is good for 7th in the NL.

Only two Phillies pitchers have not allowed a home run; Scott Eyre and Ryan Madson. Knock on wood.

While the picthing has been a consistent struggle, the offense has been like a roller coaster. Days after pounding 11 runs on the Brewers, they were no hit for 7.2 innings against Dave Bush until Matt Stairs broke up the no hit bid with a solo home run.

In the process, Cole Hamels was nailed with a line drive in the arm and was removed from the
game for precautionary reasons. Hamels is expected to make his next start.

Raul Ibanez's 9 game hitting streak came to an end on Thursday, and Chase Utley snapped a 33 consecutive game streak of reaching base, 2 short of his career high, 35.

The Phillies lead the National League in fielding percentage with a .994 percentage. That is just three errors. Ryan Howard has certainly upped his defense thus far.

Brett Myers will pitch against Josh Johnson and the Florida Marlins tonight.

Vote for the All Stars! Help make Phillies history by voting Chase Utley to the all star team! Utley could become the first Phillie since Mike Schmidt to start an all star game four years in a row. Vote for your other favorite Phillies or any MLB player you think deserves to start the Summer Classic.
